Pre-Surgery Appointments

The boys we diagnosed with Craniosynostosis, which means in short, their soft spots fused together too quickly. It’s very common with a multiple pregnancy. Skyler and Connor will undergo surgery at the UIHC by Dr. Menezess who will remove the bone that has developed over their soft spots. This pre-apt was very difficult on mom, especially when we had to talk with Anesthesia and hear all the risks that “could happen, but aren’t likely”. The boys also had to have a 3-D cat scan (meaning - no milk for 6 hours before test - EAK! They were allowed pedi-lite up to 2 hours before test though, whew) as well as have blood drawn (out of their arms) - that made mom sick too.
