June 28, 2007 – 1 year old checkups

Today we went in for our 1 year checkups. The doctor was very pleased with our progress! Skyler is our biggest boy and weighs 21 pounds; Ava jumped into second place at 20 pounds 11 ounces; and Connor has moved into third at 20 pounds 4 ounces. The doctor’s office was complete chaos. They were rolling and crawling around the doctor’s office, digging out all of the toys, opening the drawers, trying to put their fingers in the outlets, pulling themselves up on the examining table, and then, grandma got out the cheerios and they ended up all over the floor. Oh mi! Janice, the nurse, tripped over the mess and the baby scale ended up tipping over too. Yikes! I guess that’s what it’s like when you have triplets at the doctor’s office – chaos. Dr. Nau was okay with switching the babies to whole milk (which is good b/c I had already started mixing ½ formula, ½ whole milk already). He said they can continue to eat table food and to increase the amount of food and decrease the amount of bottles. He also said that within the next 3 months we should try and wean them off the bottles. I don’t think that should be a problem as they love drinking from sippy cups. They each had to get 3 shots and a finger poke for a blood test, ouch! Ava was diagnosed with ear infection and he ended up putting all 3 on an antibiotic since I have been sick and in turn passed my cough and cold onto them. We’ve all been sick now for the past week. By the time we got out of the doctor’s office, everyone was exhausted. I looked back in the mirror before I pulled out of the parking ramp they were all 3 asleep. Whew!

June 24, 2007 – 1 year old!!!

Happy Birthday Ava, Skyler and Connor!!! I can’t believe the babies are already a year old. My how time flies!!! We had an awesome birthday party with family and friends. Everyone was way too generous with gifts (as usual). The babies got a swing set complete with 3 baby swings, a 8’x8’ blow up bouncer with 100 balls, new pjs, money for their savings accounts, a few different ride-on toys and lots of other toys too (all require batteries of course), haha! They’re favorite kind of toys – LOUD ones! We had Pappa Murphy’s pizza and then the yummy cakes with whipped frosting!!! The babies each got their own little round cake, then we also had a ½ sheet cake for everyone else. Ava, reacted just as I suspected. She tasted the frosting with her little pointer finger, then dove right in with both hands! She couldn’t get it in fast enough. She is quite the little sugar freak! Skyler, somewhat reacted as I suspected. It was funny b/c he didn’t know what to do and he got kind of scared with all of those people watching him so he started to cry. But Dad and I helped him taste the cake and he began eating it. He’d try and lean over his tray and eat it by mouth too. It was super cute. Connor, he threw me off. I thought he’d dig right in and get really messy, but he didn’t. Dad and I kind of had to help him along too. We were shocked that he didn’t get it in his hair and ears like he usually does with every meal. That was very out of character for him! After cake we stripped them down and put their suits on and out to the swimming pool they went for a quick bath. Then back inside to get dressed and play with the new toys before nap time. We want to thank everyone who helped celebrate our special day!!! I will hopefully get to post some pictures this weekend. Stay tuned…
